“Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference.” Joel Barker
Are you concerned about the direction our community is going? The government seems unable to turn our economy around. Layoffs are still being announced even after the government approved the economic stimulus funds to be disbursed. That is why the Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project was created;
to take action on our own and make a real difference in our community.
The residents of Bakersfield need to make a conscience choice to take action.
Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project is taking Mr. Barker's quote to heart - fininally "Action" is being taken in Bakersfield.
We have all heard the saying It takes a village to raise a child. The Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project takes that old saying a step farther by stating It takes a village to sustain a village.
The Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Projects' mission statement is to help put people back to work by creating jobs through partnerships provided by community support. The funds raised in Bakersfield stay in Bakersfield.
There is the Kern Economic Development Corporation, but they focus on recruiting new businesses to Kern County via relocation and/or expand efforts and works with local companies to provide economic data, workforce information and facilitation of the regulatory process. They actively market to six industries: Agriculture, Logistics and Manufacturing, Energy and Chemical, Business and Professional Services, Healthcare and Medical Technology and Aerospace and Defense. The Kern Economic Development Corporation is an integral part of Kern County. Per their website, In 2008 they added 570 jobs, in 2007 they added 15 jobs, and in 2006 they added 120 jobs; all via relocations and expansions. However, of those 705 jobs only 230 of those where centered in Bakersfield, of which the businesses are Ashley Furniture, Hercules, and Rio Bravo Medical Center.
Where the Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project differs from the Kern Economic Development Corporation is: We focus on Bakersfield, we help establish new businesses through investing in our community, we offer partnerships to more industries; actually there are very few industries we will not invest in. The KEDC does not invest their funds directly into businesses but rather market to businesses.
We base our investments on your residency, your business proposal, and your agreement to the terms for re-investment to help others in the community and participation in community awareness and promotion of the Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project via events, faire's and fundraiser's. The Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project will not provide grants or loans. However, the Bakersfield Economic Stimulus Project will provide partnerships by investing into new businesses up to $100,000.00.
Partnership Investments provide economic stimulus by: Lease or purchase of property and provide jobs which go to increase tax revenue, household incomes, and spending at Bakersfield businesses. Our goal is that with every business invested in, we provide a minimum of five jobs. With the success of each business and their re-investment, more and more businesses can be created along with more and more jobs. It is like the Pay It Forward effect.
